ORA-04098: trigger 'xxxxx_TRIGGER' is invalid and failed re-validation

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 17.01

    Description:
After enabling triggers, we find that neither the source record of the trigger nor the target record is created/updated.

The following message appears in the pc_server log and the Oracle alert log:

ORA-04098: trigger 'xxxxx_TRIGGER' is invalid and failed re-validation

(The triggers for which this might occur are the z07h_trigger and the z1000_trigger, z1000_trigger_1, z1000_trigger_2
    z1001_trigger z1002_trigger, z1002_trigger_1, z1002_trigger_2 z1003_trigger)

    Resolution:
This message occurs when the trigger references columns which don't exist in the source record or when the columns in the trigger itself (defined in the ./alephm/sql_tab) do not match the columns in the target record.

In the case of the z07h, there are some z07h_trigger definitions which include a "date" column when the z07h target lacks it -- or vice versa.

In the case of the z100n tables.... as described in KB# 5274, the z1000, z1001, and z1002 tables are obsolete in version 16-up. So these TRI lines in your file_list should be commented out or deleted. [Note: As described in KB# 5274, the z1002 has been resurrected in v18. See KB 5274.]
