Oracle JServer not installed, necessary for Oracle Data Pump?

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 19.01

    Description:
We have used DataPump on Oracle 10.2.0.4 (for other applications; not Aleph), and have not had problems. We do not have JServer installed.

The select COMP_NAME,STATUS from dba_registry query shows the following:

    COMP_NAME STATUS
    ---------------------------------------- ---------------------------------
    Oracle Database Catalog Views VALID
Oracle Database Packages and Types VALID
    Oracle Text VALID

    No JServer.

Do you have any documentation on the problem you can have if you do not have JServer installed?... Or, how to get it installed?

    Resolution:
Ex Libris used some JVM capablities in the frame of Ex Libris datapump utility, relevant especially for the upgrade to Aleph 20 (Oracle version 11). Hence when upgrading to Oracle 11 / Aleph20), if you are using the data pump in Aleph, you need to install Oracle JVM.

Instructions on how to install it can be found on Documentation Center:
    Cross-Product > Technical Documentation > Oracle > Oracle 11g
