Payment codes or Payment codes description in cash-03 report

Problem Symptoms:
As z31-payment-code is an alphanumeric code X(2), I did assign new payment codes such as VI, MC, CK in pc_tab_exp_field.lng.
I was able to see/select them in GUI.

PAYMENT-MODE L Credit Card - Master Card MC
PAYMENT-MODE L Credit Card - VISA VI
PAYMENT-MODE L Check CK

cash-03 report now displays '00' for all the payment codes as new payment transactions with one or the other mode do write '00' in z31.
Would there be a way to display alphanumeric codes in cash-03 report ?

Cause:
Discrepancy in program

Resolution:
No, you cannot use alphanumeric codes.
All Payment Mode codes (section PAYMENT-MODE of ./xxx50/tab/pc_tab_exp_field.lng) must be numeric.
