Preventing job_daemon to start jobs during a period of time

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 18.01

    Description:
We would like to prevent job_daemon to start any job during our vacations as we do not want to print overdue notices. Therefore we have commented out all lines in job_list.conf. Unfortunately now all jobs have been started on sunday, We have expected that no job is started.

    Resolution:
The jobs that should be started reguarly are defined in file job_list (UTIL E 16 1). The file job_list.conf (UTIL E 16 5) specifies the exact times when these job should be started. If you use a code in job_list, that is not specified in job_list.conf. the system assumes that you want to execute the job once a week (on sunday).

Therefore if you want to prevent job_daemon to start jobs we strongly recommend to comment out the lines in job_list instead of commenting out job_list.conf-line.
