    Re-indexing and Union Course Reserves

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 19.01

    Description:
I have added a new word index to the ABC30 tables, and will run p_manage_01 to build the content.

As Course Reserves is a Union Catalogue, do I also need to re-run all the steps mentioned in Section 10.3?

    10.3 Union View Indexing
If you want to re-build an existing CR database, after all the indexes are built
p_union_01 (build empty z120 records) and p_union_02 (creates z120 records) should
be run once. Then create the z127 records. It is necessary to run the process to create
the Z127 records after running p_union_02. The process is run from the command
line and does not have any parameters. The syntax for running it is: csh –f
    $aleph_proc/create_Z127.

    Resolution:
Though the initial implementation of GUI Course Reserves requires that p_manage_01, p_union_01, p_union_02, and other jobs be run, there is no dependency between p_manage_01 and the union jobs.

The union jobs use the NTL Words index (built by p_manage_01), but since all of the CR records have already been Word-indexed -- either by the original p_manage_01 or later by ue_01 -- the NTL index entries already exist. When you run p_manage_01 you will simply be regenerating the same NTL index entries that exist now.
