    Refresh of www_server

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 16.02

    Description:
With the old www_server, each of the back servers which is started times out and is restarted after <WWW_SERVER_TIMEOUT> seconds. Any table changes which occurred since the last "refresh" would then be in effect.

It seems that this is not the case with the new www_server, with child processes: in order to make table changes take effect, one must stop and restart the www_server.

    Resolution:
In order to reflect aleph table changes immediately the www_server has to be restarted manually (using util w/3/1).

Also, a particular www_server child process will automatically restart after it has processed <WWW_MAX_REQUESTS> requests. [The value of WWW_MAX_REQUESTS is set in $aleph_proc/www_server. The range in values is 30-10000. As distributed, it is 2000.]
