Related Searches screen doesn't display "Find other documents" / "Browse ..."

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 16.02

    Description:
The related searches screen does not display consistently for us. Sometimes when it displays it does not always display the 'Find other documents' and 'Browse an alphabetical list' options.

For example, go to our OPAC and search on the title 'Tale of love and darkness'. Go to the full and click on the subject heading. The Related Searches screen displays 3 options: Find other documents, Browse alphabetical list and Find related info using search engine.

Now search the title 'Zayda was a cowboy'. Go to the full and click on any of the subject headings. The only option listed on the Related Searches screen is 'Find related info'. Why is this? Why do the screens display differently? We would like all 3 options to display on all of the Related Searches screens.

    Resolution:
The system will display these other options only when the heading actually exists in the Browse list.

If you Browse on the Subject "Emigration and immigration -- Fiction.", you will find that the heading does *not* appear in the Browse list. It *should* at least appear for this title "Zayda was a cowboy".

Resend this record to the server to see if it is then indexed under the Subject "Emigration and immigration -- Fiction". If so, the Browse option should now appear.
