Returned Item has Returned Date of "---- 00:00 AM"

    • Article Type: General

    Description:
An item that was returned today has a return date of ---- 00:00 AM.
The librarian isn't familiar with the override date option so I don't think that was used.
    How else could this happen?

    Resolution:
This information ("-------- 00:00 AM") can be found on the CIRC > left pane Item tab > Functional view > [O] History > entire right pane 1. Loans ?
This entry indicates that the loan was DELETED, not RETURNED.
Loans can be deleted from the Patron tab / [L] Loans screen.

It strongly advised to limit access to the Delete button for loans. It is not a "healthy" action and should be avoided.

"Delete Loans" IS an event 58 in the Z35 table, so you can track how often this happens and where.

The Delete button itself cannot be disabled. You can, however, deny the use of the button for specific users by taking the following actions:
[1] Enter to the GUI with a user name and password that allows staff privileges update.
[2] Right-click on the "Key" button at the bottom right side of the screen and choose the "Staff Privileges" option.
[3] Choose the appropriate username and click on the "Access Rights" button.
[4] Select the appropriate library and click on OK.
[5] Under Circulation, select the "Patron - Loan - Delete" function and click on the "Denied" button (using the Find button is helpful).
