Returned Lost items not changing "Item Process Status"

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 18.01

    Description:
When a book that has the item process status of "Lost" is returned and we check the book back into our system using the barcode, the "item process status" remains "Lost" Our staff has to manually change the status in the GUI. Reading the documentation it looked like this could happen automatically by setting the variable LOST-PROC-STATUS in tab100 to Y. I made this setting in tab100 and rebooted the PC server, but we are not seeing the change. Is there something else I need to do?

    Resolution:
Please review your xxx50/tab/tab100 setup - you currently have: LOST-PROC-STATUS=Y

    According to the tab100 header:
"List of process statuses that will be removed from an item if the item is circulated. The format of the variable is 'P1 P2 P3', where 'P1', 'P2' and 'P3' are item process statuses."

Therefore I suggest that you replace the "Y" value with the Lost item processing status code "LO" (as defined in tab15.eng).

Note:  its the ADM (xxx50) library tab100 which needs to be changed.  Then the pc_server and the Circ GUI client need to be restarted.

Also, refer to Knowledge Base entry #11510 "Automatic Removal of Process Status, when Lost items are circulated" [I've pasted it in below]:

In the case that the switch in tab100 is set as following: LOST-PROC-STATUS=MI MS

Then whenever the barcode of an item with Process status MI MS is scanned, "circulated", the process status will be removed.

    The message:
    Item returned declared lost
Do you want to continue? [Yes/No]

Refers to the option if the item will remain on loan or returned!
Does not refer to the changing of the item process status!
