Running Upgrade Express a second time; "uninstalling" Upgrade Express

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph

    Description:
We have run a test Upgrade Express for our LAWnn library from v18 to v20. Now I want to run a second upgrade.

What do I need to do in the v20 instance to allow for this?

    Resolution:
When you select #2 "Install customer data" from the upgrade_util menu, the ./upgrade_express_1901_2001/install_utree proc is invoked. It, in turn, performs install_utree_a, which:

    1. moves the existing u20_n/alephe to alephe.orig.yyyymmdd

    2. runs create_ora_user for each library being upgraded; create_ora_user deletes all of the existing Oracle data.

So the answer is that you do not need to do anything: the proc takes care of deleting the old data and saving the existing alephe.

If for some reason you want to create a "clean" v20 environment, to erase your libraries entirely from the v20, see KB 16384-21426.
