STA index not working: wst search in GUI gives no results

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 18.01

    Description:
We have been having problems getting the wst index to work. Though I have over 42,000 suppressed records, the wst=suppressed gives me a zero result. I have sent records back to the server, run the p_manage_40 and reindexed the keyword index without this problem being fixed.

    In tab00.eng 33 represents suppressed:
    H WST W-033 00 11 W-status

In tab11_word STA is set to wst:
    STA## 03 WRD WST

And util f/1/28 utility shows that the suppressed *is* being sent correctly to the wst index (#33):

    STA $$aSUPPRESSED
    Load: /tmp/utf_files/exlibris/aleph/u18_1/bin01/tab/tab_word_breaking
    Load: /exlibris/aleph/u18_1/alephe/unicode/unicode_case
    Load: /exlibris/aleph/u18_1/alephe/unicode/tab_character_conversion_line
    Load: /exlibris/aleph/u18_1/alephe/unicode/unicode_to_word_gen
    000000005 0001 0001 suppressed
    000000005 0001 0033 suppressed

    Resolution:
This problem is occurring because the BIN01 base is defined in $alephe_tab/tab_base.eng with qualifiers:

    BIN01 Full BU Catalog BIN01 EXU01 BIN01 N alldocumen
    ts not (WST=SUPPRESSED or WST=DELETED or WST=CIRC-CREATED)

In order for Suppressed records to be retrieved by the wst search in the GUI, the BIN01 base should be defined without any qualifiers:

    BIN01 Full BU Catalog BIN01 EXU01 BIN01 N

(This will require that you define a different base -- such as BIN01PUB --, with the qualifiers, for use in the OPAC.)

The general rule is that the ABC01 base -- that is the *physical base* -- should always be defined without *any* qualifiers.
