    Search on prefix retrieves all entries, with and without the prefix

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20

    Problem Symptoms:
    Two xxx01 indexes, OCLC and VEN, have the same set-up, but prefixes can be searched successfully in the OCLC index while the VEN index returns all entries, whether or not they contain the prefix.

    Cause:
    The xxx01 pc_tab_sear.eng has

    * this line for VEN:

    SC XXX01 L Vendor Number VEN

    * and this for OCLC:

    SC XXX01 L OCLC Number (Orig Rec No) 035

    The tab00.lng has these lines:

    H 035 IND 35 00 00 Utility Number
    H OCL IND 25 00 00 OCLC Match on 035
    H VEN IND 25 00 00 Vendor original No.

    and tab11_ind, these:

    a035 035
    z035 035
    0358 VEN

    <There are *no* lines for the "OCL" index in tab11_ind.>

    Thus, the OCLC index being searched in GUI Browse is "035" and this 035 index is using filing routine 35, while the VEN index is using 25.

    Resolution:
    1. Eliminate the "cut_prefix" line from the filing routine being used for the index which doesn't retrieve the prefix.

    Or

    2. Change the tab00.lng entry for the index to a routine which does not have "cut_prefix".
