Searching record with p_ret_01, special characters

    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20, 21, 22, 23
    • Relevant for Installation Type: Dedicated-Direct, Direct, Local, Total Care

    Description:
I tried to search records where the field 245$a begins with an asterisk ("*") using the ret-01 Service. This character is using as a wild card. Is it possible to use a kind of entity or ASCII code to search this character?

I want to remove this "asterix" by notihing using p_manage_21. I must first have a entry file.

    Resolution:
Despite rep_change 1491, which enables use of special characters ? { ' ` ^ > in batch services, the star (*) sign, or its escape translation (\%2A) still cannot be used with p-ret-01 or p-manage-21, since it is used as a wild caracter for truncation.
Instead, please use p-file-08 with a generic fix program (See document "How to Set Up a Script for the Correction of Records in ALEPH Sequential Format"),
    For example:
In bib library, tab/import directory, create a table named, let's say, "asterisk",
    Add this line:

    1 245##                    REPLACE-STRING                 $$a*,$$a

This table can be used with p-file-08, or as a fix routine with fix_doc_do_file_08.
