Service Pack: missing NEWLINE added at end of input file STDIN error

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 18.01

    Description:
I have just tried to install the latest service pack on our test system. Before installing it running the ver command showed the current SP installed to be 745.

When I entered option 4. Install SP in Util SP the following lines were briefly displayed:
sort: missing NEWLINE added at end of input file STDIN
sort: missing NEWLINE added at end of input file STDIN
    followed by:
Welcome to Service Pack 1-767 installation utility.
Your current Service Pack level is 317.

I would have expected instead the message:
Your current Service Pack level is 745.

    Resolution:
There was an illegal character in the file that shows the Aleph sub version that cause the “sort: missing NEWLINE added at end of input file STDIN” message and not to show the correct SP version. The sp was successful and there is no need to rerun it. The “ver” command returns now the correct SP. The relevant file is ./alephm/proc/report_change.dat.
