    UE-01 shut down unexpectedly

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20

    Problem Symptoms:
    For XXX01, util O/3/1 contains

    ORA-00603: ORACLE server session terminated by fatal error
    ORA-00379: no free buffers available in buffer pool DEFAULT for block size 8K

    As a result UE-01 shut down

    Cause:

    Resolution:
    This problem is caused by an Oracle bug - #7702085. The workaround to this problem is to manually set the DB_CACHE_SIZE parameter to ensure that there is a reasonable buffer cache in place.
    This is done by setting:
    aleph20.__sga_target=650M (for Oracle System Only Memory) and
    aleph20.__db_cache_size=400M
    in initaleph20.ora file.

    Once you have made this change you will need to restart Oracle for the change to take effect.

    The permanent fix will come in either Oracle in 11.1.0.7.3 (Patch Set Update) or 11.2.0.1.
