    UTIL-X-8: hot or cold?

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 16.02

    Description:
There was a problem with our clear_vir01 run this morning and now we are seeing odd things happen in our OPAC.
I want to clear the vir01 library using UTIL-X-8.
When I select that option it asks if I want to use hot or cold.
Which of these should I use?
I'm guessing since we are currently online, hot would probably be the best option but I don't know what the differences are.

    Resolution:
If UTIL-X-8 is being run with the system up, it should be run with "hot".
But if the previous clear_vir01 has failed, this may not work properly....

The four vir01 tables involved in OPAC are the z63, z05, z110, and the z52. Checking with SQL and with UTIL-A-14-17, I found that the first three were OK, but that the z52 was empty.

Running p_file_04 for the vir01 z52 corrected the problem.
