    Unexpected stopping of batch que

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 18.01

    Description:
The FCL01 batch queue stops unexpectedly. Other than deliberately stopping the queue with util C/3, what else would make the queue stop?

    Resolution:
When you say that you find the batch queue stopped, do you mean that util c/1 shows no lib_batch process running -- or do you mean that, even though util c/1 shows it running, queued batch jobs are not actually being processed?

If the former, the only cause we know of for the disappearance of the lib_batch process is util c/3 -- or aleph_shutdown. The fcl01 $data_files/lib_batch_log shows the exact time that the batch queue was started and stopped since May, 2006:

    Wed May 10 16:35:08 aleph *** ************************************************
Wed May 10 16:35:08 aleph *** Batch que FCL01 started
    Wed May 10 16:38:58 aleph *** ************************************************
Wed May 10 16:38:58 aleph *** Batch que FCL01 stopped
    Wed May 10 16:42:29 aleph *** ************************************************
Wed May 10 16:42:29 aleph *** Batch que FCL01 started
    Mon May 15 15:03:06 aleph *** ************************************************
Mon May 15 15:03:06 aleph *** Batch que FCL01 stopped

If the latter (queued batch jobs are not actually being processed), please see KB 8192-2059.
