Unnecessary ""Saving Record in Library xxx01 with System Number nnnnn"

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 18.01

    Description:
We just started importing records from OCLC. Our cataloger finds that whenever she looks at a record the system prompts her to continue. The system shouldn't be prompting the cataloger to continue for every record we export into ALEPH---imagine the nightmare if we did a batch export of 25 records and had to see this particular prompt for each record. How we tell the system to continue without prompting?

    Resolution:
The message "Saving Record in Library xxx01 with System Number nnnnnn" occurs when the cataloger clicks on the "Save on Server and Local Drive" icon. It appears to give the cataloger a chance to change the Cataloger Level. (At sites with multiple catalogers, a cataloger with a higher level may want to lower the level at which the record is saved in order to permit other, lower-level, catalogers to update the record.)

If the cataloger doesn't make any change to the record, then s/he doesn't need to click on the "Save on Server and Local Drive" icon; s/he can simply click on the binoculars to return to the Search screen.
