    Question

How does RFID work with Aleph?

    Answer

RFID works with Aleph in the following general way:

    1. Catalogers create a record.
    2. The RFID tag is laid on the programming pad connected to a PC.
    3. Through the RFID software's interface, the item barcode is scanned.
    4. The RFID software will use a SIP2 interface to connect to the library's catalog.
    5. The record is retrieved and displayed in the RFID software's interface.
    6. "Save to Label" (or similarly-named button) is clicked, which writes the information displayed on the RFID software's interface to the RFID tag.
    7. The RFID tag is placed on the item.
