What changes the item hold status to"S"?

What changes the hold status (z37_status) to "S" (on Hold Shelf): the return of the item? or the production of the item available letter?

Answer

The "S" is set by the execute_hold_request program, called by the pc_cir_c0429 (Create a Hold Request Filled Letter) program, normally resulting from the return of the item.

The factors which come into play are:

1. the 'Display list of hold requests' checkbox in GUI Circ -> ALEPH -> Options -> Return options {as discussed in Article 000019882 ("Hold Notice failing to print")}.

2. the value in column 6.1 of the ReturnHold01 line in .\Circ\tab\print.ini. If no letter is desired, then type “NO-PRINT” in print.ini, column 6.1. {Column 6.1 is reserved for the Device ID of the patron (letter) printout.}
