    Description:
What does v18 rep change 672 do? The documentation only says:
"Adding a new filing routine that will delete common words in the"

I can't tell whether we'd like to use the routine or not, and have not been able to find it in the knowledge base.

    Resolution:
Here are the complete Description and Implementation Notes for v18 rep_change 672. (Note: The "NTL" field is used only as part of the matching in union catalogs.)

Description: Adding a new filing routine that will delete common words in the title (245) field from NTL field ,used by the equivalency building program.

The new filing routine porpose is to delete common title words from the NTL field (created by expand_doc_ntl) .This field is used by the equivalency building program, and influence on the selection of candidates for match.

The routine, deletes all words that appear in tab_stop_words table, defined for each library.

For example: Titles beginning with "Quarterly economic review of..." are very common ,the NTL build for these documents was: "quarterlyeconomicreviewof", this produce a lot of candidate documents in the equivalency building program.
Now, the new filing routine will delete the word "review" that is common, and the NTL field will be : "quarterlyeconomicoffrance", this will give less candidates, but the candidates will have more resemblance .

    Implementation Notes:

    1. Add the file tab_stop_words to $data_tab

    2. Add the following lines to tab_filing in $data_tab

    74 stop_words

Notice : This line must be added before the line :

    74 first_25

    3. Run util h 2 , to synchronize Library File Headers.
