Question
There is an LDAP file in the $usr_library, tab directory: ldap.conf.
[general]
host_name = MYUNI.ORG.EDU
port = 389
secure_ldap = N
search_base = o=MYUNI
search_filter = (uid=USERNAME)
ldap_version = 3
[xml setting]
xml_root_node = bor_authentication
What is the purpose of this file? I renamed it to remove it from play and the LDAP PDS worked fine, as configured in the PDS directory.
Answer
There is an option to use LDAP authentication in Aleph without activating PDS.
It is configured via ldap.conf in the $data_tab of the $usr_library and also this $alephe_root environment variable:
setenv aleph_authen $alephm_dev/alephm/source/authen
More details are available in the attached file ("How to Configure ALEPH with LDAP.pdf").
