    What should the usr_library be?

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 16.02

    Description:
What should should be specified as the usr_library (in the $alephe_root/aleph_start file) in version 16.02-up?

    Resolution:
    The usr_library contains patron files z303, z304, z308, and z353. (And, in version 18-up, when USER-SHARING = Y, the z305.).

As delivered in 16.02 the usr_library is "USR00". The USR00 is in the DEMO_LIBRARIES list in aleph_start and (like the USMnn libraries) is subject to replacement with each new release. Not a good place to put your own site's patron data. Thus, USR00 should not serve as the customer's usr_library.

Our recommendation is that in a single-ADM setup, the xxx50 serve as the usr_library; and in a multi-ADM, that a separate library such as, "PWD50", "SYS00" or "xxx00" be defined and used.

Note: the PWD50 does not count as an ADM library and having a PWD50 does *not* make you multi-ADM. Multi-ADM is when there are multiple ADM libraries sharing the same xxx01 bib library.
