Z07H contains records from previous parallel indexing

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20

    Problem Symptoms:
After running manage-01 ("Rebuild Word Index") and manage-05 ("Update Direct Index") in a parallel library in March, 2014, records from a 2010 parallel indexing are still in the Z07H (Indexing Request History) table. Shouldn't they have been deleted?

    Cause:
    Uncertain.

    Resolution:
Assuming that util e/5/1 ("Store - Create Z07H Table and Oracle Trigger") was performed prior to running the manage-01 and manage-05 jobs, the old z07h records should have been deleted, as described in Article 000015917 ("util E/5/2 does not get rid of Z07H & counts are off"): "when util e/5/1 is next run, it drops the previous Z07H".

It's unclear why this wouldn't have happened. SQL could be used to delete the z07h records from 2010 prior to doing util e/5/2 ("Restore - Dump Z07H to Z07 and Delete Oracle Trigger") . (Note: Processing the old z07h records will not cause any problem; it's just unnecessary work for ue_01.)

In view of the preceding, it may be a good practice, after doing util e/5/1 to confirm that the z07h has been dropped/recreated and is in fact now empty.
