    aleph_shutdown Doesn't Stop Demons / Queues; illsv_dev: Undefined Variable

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 18.01

    Description:
    After upgrading our test server from v16 to v18, the aleph_shutdown script doesn't shut down the ue_01, ue_03, ue_08 and the batch queues for our local libraries (abc01, abc10, abc50, abc60).

    Resolution:
    The aleph_shutdown aleph was stopping with the following error:
    illsv_dev: Undefined variable

    The illsv was included in the ./alephe_tab/aleph_libs but there was no "setenv illsv_dev" line for it in the $alephe_root/aleph_start.

    Each library *must* have an xxxxx_dev line in aleph_start. (The "setenv illsv_dev" line *is* included in the a-tree /exlibris/aleph/a18_1/alephe/aleph_start.)

    I added the "setenv illsv_dev" line to aleph_start and the aleph_shutdown was able to run to completion.

    {Note: the log had many messages like the following:
    Warning (tab_library_group) : Cannot find library USM40 in tab_library_group
    Warning (tab_library_group) : Cannot find library ILLSV in tab_library_group

    These are not an actual problem but to avoid these messages, I added usm40 and illsv to the $alephe_tab/tab_library_group.}

    I was able, after this, to run $alephe_root/aleph_startup successfully.
