apache: bad expires code; pc_server: No match for IP address 000.000.000.000

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 16.02

    Description:
When rebooting the system, we encountered:

metaset: aleph1: metad client create: RPC: Rpcbind failure

Talking to Sun, and looking threw various logs / files, they advised to hard link a Start up service file S71rcp which didn’t exist in the /etc/rc2.d directory. We hard linked the file from /etc/init.d/rcp.

    After doing so:

    1. The unix prompt changed from:

    aleph1-a16(1)
    to:
    -a-16(1)
    2. apache (and the Web OPAC) became unavailable. The $alephe_root/apache/logs/error_log showed:

internal error: bad expires code: /exlibris/aleph/u16_1/alephe/apache/htdocs/greencheck.png, referer: http://...

    3. the pc_server log (and the util y/11) started having the following error:

license_check [err]: No match for IP address 000.000.000.000
    Error: License check, Exiting...

    Resolution:
The site removed the hard link file, but that, by itself, didn’t help.
They needed to reboot the server in order to restart the rcp services and correct the problem.
