apache start: "File exists: unable to create scoreboard"

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 17.01

    Description:
After a recovery of the Oracle database and reboot of the server, the ./apache/logs/error_log file had this error:

[Sun Apr 23 14:17:22 2006] [crit] (17)File exists: unable to create scoreboard "
    /exlibris1/aleph/u17_2/alephe/apache/logs/httpd.scoreboard" (name-based shared memory failure)

    Resolution:
A check of the /exlibris1/aleph/u17_2/alephe/apache/logs showed that the scoreboard file was no longer present -- and a subsequent start of apache (without doing anything else) was successful. (Apparently apache had deleted the file.)

    17.01 rep_change 538 says:

Description: ScoreBoardFile definition in httpd.conf is problematic on some platforms and may prevent the restart of apache unless deleted. The default is now fixed and the ScoreBoardFile definition is commented out.
    ...
    ...
    Implementation Notes:

If you have problem restarting the apache, please comment out, the following line, using # as indicated below
    ./alephe/apache/conf/httpd.conf:

    #ScoreBoardFile @_E_MOUNT_DEV/alephe/apache/logs/httpd.scoreboard

    Additional Information

apache: File exists: unable to create scoreboard ...
