display:creator field not being created in Primo for particular Aleph author

    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20, 21, 22, 23
    • Relevant for Installation Type: Dedicated-Direct, Direct, Local, Total Care

    Description

Records containing the author "Viet Thanh Nguyen" are not generating a display:creator field in the Primo PNX records.  The Brief Results do not list the author directly before the title.  The MARC records appear to contain the same fields in the 100 tag as other  records for which the display:creator field is listed in the PNX.  Why are these Nguyen records not generating the display:creator field in the PNX records?

    Resolution

Looking at the z00p_ptr field (with SQL), we see that the record has a subfield P with a value of "N":

    <datafield tag="100" ind1="1" ind2=" ">
    <subfield code="a">Nguyen, Viet Thanh,</subfield>
    <subfield code="d">1971-,</subfield>
    <subfield code="e">author.</subfield>
    <subfield code="0">xxx10003917388</subfield>
    <subfield code="P">N</subfield>

(The subfield "P" is generated with a value of "N" by the expand_doc_bib_accref expand when the z01 heading record Z01-ACC-SEQUENCE-SEE is not 0 -- indicating that it's a SEE reference to another heading.)  The xxx10 authority record 003917388 has:

    1001 L $$aNguyen, Viet Thanh,$$d1971-
    ...
    4000 L $$aNguyá»n Thà nh Viá»t,$$d1971-
    4000 L $$aNguyen Viet Thanh,$$d1971-
    4000 L $$aViet Thanh Nguyen,$$d1971-
    ...

When the 100 tag is normalized, the first comma is removed and it's exactly the same as the second 400 field (Nguyen Viet Thanh,$$d1971-).  A 400 tag can't be the same as the 100 tag.

Deleting this "4000 L $$aNguyen Viet Thanh,$$d1971- " field from the authority record caused the z00p 100 field <subfield code="P"> to be changed to "Y", and resending the record to Primo generated the desired display.
