    expand_doc_bib_loc_usm **MASTER RECORD**

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 16.02

    Description:
    You find that the expand_doc_bib_loc_usm:

    * is producing "expand_doc_bib_loc_1_c2 More than 1000 items" error messages;

    * is not including locations from HOL records which lack z30 records; or

    * is not generating call numbers for Course Reserves items linked to the xxx30 via a bib record.

    Resolution:
The expand_doc_bib_loc_usm program calls a hardocoded set of expand_doc_bib_loc_n_x routines:

    expand_doc_bib_loc_1_a
    expand_doc_bib_loc_1_b
    expand_doc_bib_loc_1_c2
    expand_doc_sort_loc_a
    expand_doc_bib_loc_2_a
    expand_doc_bib_loc_3_a
    expand_doc_bib_loc_4_c
    expand_doc_bib_loc_5_c
    expand_doc_bib_loc_cleanup

If you have HOL records which lack z30 (item) records, the expand_doc_bib_loc_1_c2 is not appropriate. ( The 4_c and 5_c are alternatives to 4_a for generating the LOC field (including info from the Z16, for instance). They also generate an "SBL" field.

We suggest that you use the following user-specified expand_doc_bib_loc_n_x (PST) routines instead of expand_doc_bib_loc_usm:

    expand_doc_bib_loc_1_a
    expand_doc_bib_loc_1_b
    expand_doc_bib_loc_1_c
    expand_doc_sort_loc_a
    expand_doc_bib_loc_2_a
    expand_doc_bib_loc_3_a
    expand_doc_bib_loc_4_a
    expand_doc_bib_loc_cleanup

(Note: the 4_a is necessary only if you want to generate a LOC field. If you are expecting a PST field, you don't need the 4_a.)

See KB 16384-27281 in regard to the generation of call numbers for Course Reserves items.
