file-20: "failure . . . trying to read XML input file."

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20

    Problem Symptoms:
file-20 (patron loader) ends with the message: "... Failure occurred while trying to read XML input file (XML might be invalid)", no $data_scratch p_file_20_report is produced, and no records are output.

    Cause:
Invalid (XML) input. See Additional Information for specific example.

    Resolution:
    Solution 1:

    a. Search for the diacritic character shown in the error message (such as, "?"), change each occurrance to the non-diacritic form ("e") in the input file, and rerun the job.

    b. If an error occurs for a different character, locate and change it also and rerun.

    c. Repeat until the job runs successfully.

Solution 2: Consult Article 0021366 ("file-20: Errors for non-ascii characters").
