    Question

Is manage-35 required as part of Headings indexing sequence?

    Answer

When re-indexing Headings (manage-102, manage-02, etc.) does manage-35 ("Update Brief Records") need to be run? The "How To Run Index Jobs" document describes it as optional.

manage-35 is optional in the sense that, if you aren't using the z0101 (Brief Sub-Arranging Records), it doesn't need to be run, but, if you do, it does. (As described in Article 000043765 ("How is the Z0101 table used?"), the z0101 references the z01_acc_sequence. manage-02 changes all the z01_acc_sequence's. Therefore, if you use the z0101, manage-35 needs to be run following a run of manage-02.)

If you are uncertain whether you are using (or want to use) the z0101, see the Ex Libris Documentation Center > Aleph > Technical Documentation > How To > Web OPAC > "Brief Records Functionality" document.
