oclc_server: "Load record failed - Multiple matching docs found"

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 18.01

    Description:
We are an ALEPH site with a single ADM shared by a number of different institutions. Each institution has it's own set of Bib records, identified by a distiinguishing OWN code. We are find that records being exported from OCLC, which should overlay an existing bib record, based on the OWN code doesn't get loaded. We see this kind of error:

Load record failed - Multiple matching docs found in XXX01 (004805845 004857109)
    End handling input record

It's correct that there are two copies of the bib record in the database, but only one has the matching OWN code.

    Resolution:
This was corrected by changing tab_z30 in the XXX50 library. Column 9 of this table (OWN Group) is expressly intended to group multiple OWN codes into a single grouping for the purpose of sharing a single bib across the grouped OWN codes. However, in this architecture (single ADM, multiple bibs, multiple OWN codes), the problem reported of Multiple matches is resolved by repeating the OWN code from column 2 of this table in column 9.
