    p_print_04 stalls:

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 16.02

    Description:
Even though the input file specifies only 1,000 records, p_print_04 runs for more than 10 hours. Also, we see this in the log:

    997998 READING Z01 UNITED STATES AT 18:40:03.
    998999 READING Z01 UNITED STATES AT 18:40:12.
    Oracle error: io_z05_write.
    ORA-00001: unique constraint (VIR01.Z05_ID) violated.

(Followed by the same error for the Z110.).

This will also cause your OPAC to not work -- since it relies on the Z05 and Z110. Why?

    Resolution:
The short answer: (to get the OPAC working) kill the p_print_04 job and run util a/10.

The long answer: the p_print_04 job writes a z05 for each heading.

In this case, all of the AWT headings were selected: Catalog Type = AWT; with "Text from" and "Text to" blank..

Since there are 1,177,028 AWT headings, this exceeded the 999,999 that the Z05 can handle and we got the unique constraint.. See also KB# 3905

If the job were done in two runs, the first, with "Text to = MZZZZ", and the second, with "Text from = N", that should work..
Or, you may want to use p_print_01 instead.
