ue_01, ue_08, ue_11, etc.: In which libraries should they run?

    Question

In which libraries should ue_01, ue_08, ue_11 and the other ue's be running in?

    Answer

ue_01 should be running in any library which contains Word indexes or Headings indexes. This is the BIB, Authority, Course Reserve, and ILL libraries.
It *may* include the HOL and ADM libraries -- if indexing is set up there.
Or, in the case of an HOL library, if batch loads are being done which require update of associated items (see KB 8192-1703). N
ote that ue_01 does *not* need to be running in the ADM library in order for item updates to trigger bib index updates (see KB 4140) or to generate z105's for sending messages to other libraries.

ue_06 is for ADM libraries. See KB 5746.

ue_08 should be running in any BIB library which is associated (via tab_aut) with an Authority library.

ue_11 needs to run only in the library defined as the $z105_library in aleph_start.

ue_13 -- As noted in SKB# 6796, the ue_13 (OAIREP_STARTUP_LIBS) is used only by the German consortia.

ue_17 and ue_19 should be running in ILL libraries ( -- if you are using ILL).

ue_21 needs to run in BIB and Course Reserve libraries producing Publishing data (z00p records for Primo or other OAI). It could run in the Authority library, but normally does not.

SIP2_STARTUP_LIBS -- specify the ADM libraries for which you are running sip2 (self-check) servers

SLNP_STARTUP_LIBS -- as described in KB 8192-4841 (The SLNP server is used only by German consortia for the German national ILL product.)

    Additional Information

Though it typically doesn't do any active harm, running unnecessary ue processes *does* use up process slots on your server. For that reason we recommend that you not specify them unnecessarily.

If you want the daemons to be started automatically in the libraries you have to add them to $alephe_root/aleph_start under "WORD_STARTUP_LIBS".
