ue_17 stops: "ORA-03135: connection lost contact"

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 18.01

    Description:
While cascading ILL we have noticed that the ue_17 daemon seems to stop and has to be restarted. It is only noticed when a request sent to an internal supplier does not arrive. We'd like a resolution to this, or failing that a method of notifying when a process has stopped (or even both!!).
We have seen KB item 8192-3623 and wonder if this is similar. We haven't as yet investigated or noticed whether this is happening to other daemons.

We have looked at the ue_17 logs and find the following at the end:

    From yesterday, run_e_17.24841

    Oracle error: update_cursor z11
    ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel

    Oracle error: update_cursor z11
    ORA-03114: not connected to ORACLE

    ***************************************************
    * No ORACLE connection - process is terminated... *
    ***************************************************

    And from today, run_e_17.7868

    Oracle error: update_cursor5 z416
    ORA-03135: connection lost contact

    Oracle error: update_cursor1 z52
    ORA-03114: not connected to ORACLE

    ***************************************************
    * No ORACLE connection - process is terminated... *

    Resolution:
Ex Libris concluded that the problem is related to a (temporary) loss of connectivity between the two servers in the TWO_TASK environment rather than to ALEPH/Oracle.

Please check the network connection between the servers.
