    ue_21: "... ORA-01691: unable to extend lob segment ..."

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20

    Problem Symptoms:
The xxx01 ue_21 publishing daemon stopped running. The $data_scratch/run_e_21.nnnn log shows the following error message:

"Error: write_xml_to_clob: ORA-01691: unable to extend lob segment xxx50.Z00P_SEGNAME by 8192 in "

Any attempt to restart ue_21 daemon results in this same error.

    Cause:
The $data_root/file_list and/or the $data_scratch/file_list shows that the Z00P ("ALEPH Published Documents") table resides in the TS4D tablespace. util o/14/1 shows that the largest free extent in TS4D is insufficiently large; see Additional Information below for details.

    Resolution:
Using util o/13/3 or native Oracle commands, the database administrator should add a 4 gig or 8 gig datafile to TS4D.

    Additional Information

util o/14/1 shows that the max extent available in the TS4D tablespace is 53.0291298 megabytes:

    TABLESPACE_NAME TOTAL_FREE_SPACE MAX_EXTENT NUM_FREE_EXTENTS
    ------------------------------ ---------------- ---------- ----------------
    TS4D 521.286351 53.0291298 18

53 megabytes is much smaller than the MAX_EXTENT's we see for the other tablespaces -- all of which are around 500 megabytes.

As seen in the xxx50 util a/17/11/1, the z00p LOBSEGMENT is 49 Gigabytes.
