    update_z103_ids

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 16.02

    Description:
The BIB library tab_z103 used to contain an update_z103_ids line. Now it is commented out.
    Don't we need this?

    Resolution:
The update_z103_ids: "based on USMARC linking fields, for creation of UP/DN, PAR and ANA links.
Although based on USMARC links, there are departures from the USMARC standard". In the program we see links being built from the following tags: 490, 772, 780X0, 7801X1, 780X5, 773XA, and 773XU.

Note: **Links from ANA, ITM, PAR, etc. LKR fields which you have placed in the BIB records are still built even without this.** (They are built as a result of the update_z103_lkr.) We have found that the update_z103_ids creates undesired links between records. Knowledgeable sites have stopped using it. The "update_z103_ids" line is commented out in v16 ./usm01/tab/tab_z103.
