    util_x_07 in job_list

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 18.01

    Description:
In our test environment, we have just set up util_x_07 (for cleaning utf directory) to run. the syntax looks as follows:
    W0 05:40:00 Y VIR01 util_x_07 VIR01
It turned out that the job did not run as expected. In looking at the log files, we perceive the following message:
    "Clean Up - util_x_07
    Before cleaning ./alephe/utf_files directory
verify that all BatchQueues, Daemons are down
Do you want to continue (y/[n])?"

Obviously, this job is an interactive one that needs feedbacks to proceed.

Could we specify a command line for the job with all the parameter values in the job_list to make the job run as the case of a number of other jobs? Or is this job only suitable for manual running?

Also, my take of this job is that it needs only to be run on a weekly basis - I stand corrected on this though.

    Resolution:
util_x_7 does not need to be run on any regular basis; therefore, you should not bother trying to add it to the job_list.

(The files which it deletes are files which the system is going to put back out there very shortly anyway, so there is no point it deleting them. The only exception is a case where you have restored an Aleph table and want to make sure that the restored version is used -- that case is described in KB 16384-4578 --, but there is no way to predict when this need might occur ... and, therefore, no point in having this job in the job_list.)
