xxx30 prof_library setup for file_list_type = BIB instead of COURSE

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 19.01

    Description:
As we are preparing to migrate from V19 to V20, I was checking file list types. I see when our xxx30 libraries were opened, they were code for file_list_type of BIB instead of COURSE. They appear to be functioning properly as our users have not complained, however, I would like to get them to the proper settings. In KB 16384-17027, the instructions were to:

    *********
You should delete the setenv library_type and setenv library_size lines and change the
    setenv file_list_type BIB
    to:
    setenv file_list_type COURSE
After doing this, the util a/17/6/1 will create the necessary triggers even if they are not in the abc30 file_list. (It will get the entries from the $aleph_root/tab/file_list.COURSE file.)
    *********

Would this be the proper procedure for us to follow to get the settings corrected? Any other steps needed to get things as they should be? We are currently in the middle of an academic term and we do not want to create any problems for the users by correcting this setting.

    Resolution:
The reference to triggers in KB 16384-17027 has to do with the z120/z127. I see (in util a/17/6/4 in abc30 on libserv4.abc.edu-19(6) ) that these triggers *are* defined --, so that's not a problem.

I see that the abc30 file_list does not include the TRI entries, so I don't exactly understand how they got created....

I suggest that you make the change shown in KB 16384-17027. Change from:

    setenv file_list_type BIB

    to:
    setenv file_list_type COURSE

in each of the xxx30 prof_library files. And not do anything else. This will have no immediate effect at all, but it certainly *is* the correct setting and it will be used when you go from v19 to v20 to assure that the libraries' files are treated properly.
