Alma Resource Sharing: returning items without putting them into transit

    • Article Type: Q&A
    • Product: Alma

    Question

We've got the Resource Sharing department, and they physically exist here at the Main Library. They would like to be able to return items we've lent to other institutions whilst being 'at' 'Resource Sharing Library - Resource Sharing Desk' without putting items for Main Library into transit. I've tried adding a relationship to Resource Sharing Library with 'circulate for' Main Library, but it hasn't made a difference.

    Is this possible to do?

    Answer

For a regular library, to avoid items from location X being put into transit after being returned at Circ Desk Y, the solution would be to add location X in the 'Physical Locations' tab of the Circ Desk Y with the "Reshelve" checkbox ticked.
But in case of the Resource Sharing library, it it is not possible to add locations from other libraries to the RES_DESK circ desk. If the resource sharing library is physically a ‘real’ library and not a separate one then you should simply mark the ‘real’ library (Main in your case) as a resource sharing library and then handle the resource sharing requests while at the Main Library Circ Desk.
