File name isn't changed after Import (no timestamp added) - why? How to avoid duplicates?

Question

Vendor filenames on FTP server not being changed as part of Import Profile process. Why, and how to ensure no reloading happens on same file?

Answer

For import profiles, each time a file is uploaded the following three attributes are recorded in a registry: file name, file size, file modification date.

Thus, two files of the same name may be uploaded, as long as the file size or file modification date is different.

This is the mechanism in place, to ensure that Alma won't reload the same file (e.g. for New Order, Repository, Inventory Update).
