Is there a delay between the weekly publishing by LOC and availability of updated records in Alma?

    • Product: Alma

    Question

Is there a delay between the LoC's weekly publishing of LCSH and LCNAF and the availability of those updated authority records in Alma (for the 'Authorities - Preferred Term Correction' job)?

    Answer

Yes, there is a slight delay.

New and updated Library of Congress Authorities are available from LoC every week, and are usually uploaded on Tuesdays to their FTP server. Once available, the files are usually loaded into the CZ on Thursday.

    Additional Information

For more information on the schedule of authority updates in the Community Zone, please see the 'Vocabularies' chart in: Working with Authority Records

Library of Congress Authorities are available at: authorities.loc.gov

From the Library of Congress Authorities FAQ:
Are authority records up to date?
Yes. Library of Congress Authorities are updated every night, Monday through Saturday. The nightly update includes records newly created and updated the previous day by LC catalogers and contributed by NACO participants. Any records deleted during the previous week are removed on a weekly basis early every Monday morning.
