Notes are overwritten by the SIS load

Question

A large number of user notes gets overwritten by the SIS load. Is that intended to happen?

Answer

Notes and blocks may be internal or external. In general internal notes are added manually and external notes are added by SIS. But there is also the option to manually add an external note, by checking the box "Add as an external". The Update/Notify users job also adds external notes unless the option Added/changed field is set to Internal.

Now when a new SIS feed comes in, external notes are always overwritten while internal notes are not touched.
