Receiving Acquisition In Process items in order to avoid In Transit (Work Order at Circulation Desk)

    Question

How to avoid putting items "In Transit" when they are received by an Acquisitions Department? Our Institution has a one-to-one relation with the Library which orders the materials and the Department which receives them.

    Answer

Consider enabling the Circulation Desk to "Receive" items.

Please work with Professional Services or Support Team to confirm that these steps are correct for your Alma Institution:

    1. Go to: Configuration > choose "Configuring" for the Library level
    2. Configuration > General > Work Order Departments > Add Type: Acquisitions
    3. Follow the wizard/menu
    4. Choose: Fulfillment > Library Management > Circulation Desks
    5. Edit the Circulation Desk > choose the "Work Order Types" tab
    6. Click: "Add Work Order" > choose: "Acquisitions" from the drop-down menu

    Additional Information

An item can be received at the Acquisitions Department and it is in place as long as "Keep in Department" is not checked. The item will be "in place" and not be in Transit to a Circulation Desk when an Acquisitions Work Order is marked "Done".

At some stage, change Roles for all operators so they no longer can "be currently at" the obsolete Department and add items there. At this point, all "In Process" items will need to be edited to reflect the new processing department.
