Resolve error: "Item of the same title is already on loan for this patron. Parallel loan is prohibited."

Question

Parallel loans (loans of the same title to the same person) are disallowed by the system, despite settings which do not block parallel loans. Error is: "Item of the same title is already on loan for this patron. Parallel loan is prohibited." How to solve?

Answer

It is support's experience that these steps will help resolve the issue:

1. Change the “Reloan Limit” policy to “Other”, with value of, e.g. 1 minute.
2. In another case, the customer added a new policy having value of “None”, and made it the default policy. To find the policy go to: Configuration > Fulfillment > Advanced Policy Configuration > Filter to “Policy Type”: Reloan Limit. 
3. Yet for another situation, what worked best was to change the Block Definition. Go to: Configuration > Fulfillment > Physical Fulfillment > Block Preferences >  "Item of the same title is already on loan for this patron. Parallel loan is prohibited" > change from "Block" to "Allow", and decide which Role can allow override for such an error.
