Why don't password changes for Internal users distribute from the Network Zone using the Distribute function?

    Question

Why don't password changes for Internal users distribute from the Network Zone using the Distribute function?

    Answer

The distributed users feature is intended to be used with externally-authenticated accounts (such as SAML systems). This provides a seamless login experience for users throughout different institutions.

Before the deployment of the Identity Service, internal users with passwords stored in Alma would be copied to the additional institution including the password.

With the move to the new Identity Service, user passwords are no longer stored in Alma and therefore not copied along with the user. You will need to manually reset the password for your Network user at each relevant member institution. It will need to be updated in the same manner as other internal staff accounts.
