CDI Collection List for Alma Customers

The CDI collection list (November 10, 2024) contains all collections that are marked in Alma as In CDI. This marking is applied when at least 80% of the content is indexed, either from the provider directly, or via alternative data sources. For those collections that are indexed directly from the providers, such as the primary publishers, ProQuest, Gale, and many others, the coverage is 100%. In cases where we do not get the data directly from the provider, their content (as listed in the KnowledgeBase) is mapped against the entire Index, and the percentage of overlap is calculated accordingly. The provider coverage column indicates whether a collection is indexed with metadata directly from the provider or not.

Unless indicated in the following table, we update the column's information quarterly.
In the EasyActive setting, collections with the Search Rights column set to subscription require customer activation in Alma and authentication from users to search for them.

The CDI collection list contains the following columns:

Column	Description
Alma Collection ID	Alma CZ Collection ID
Collection Name	Alma CZ Collection Name.
Type	The collection type: Collection with Portfolios or Database
Interface name	Alma CZ Interface name
Provider Coverage (metadata indexed directly from provider)	Indicates whether the metadata is indexed directly from the provider or via alternative data sources
CDI Type	Indicates whether the collection is Full Text Collection, Abstracting and Indexing database (A&I), or Hybrid.
Search Rights	Can be free or subscription. Those marked as subscription cannot be activated unless you have a subscription agreement with the provider and therefore acquired the rights to use them for search. For collections not directly indexed from the provider the value will be free (from alternative data sources).
Full Text Rights	The following settings are valid: Subscription (Title Level) – Full text access rights are based on subscription and taken from active full text collections with active portfolios in Alma. Subscription (Collection Level) – Full text access rights are based on subscription> All content of this collection is marked as full text available if the collection is active in Alma. Open Access – When the provider content for this collection contains an Open Access indication at the record level, or when the Provider collection name clearly indicates that it is open access content. In the latter case, note that some of the collection's CDI records may not have an Open Access indication, especially if the CDI content comes from alternative sources (provider Coverage = NO). For more information on OA content in CDI, see Open Access Content in CDI. Partially Open Access – Part of the collection is available via Open Access, the other part is based on subscription. Please note that at least 80% of the content in the collection needs to be Open Access for the collection to be regarded as Partially Open Access. Hybrid - Used for A&I collections where some of the records have full text, and others do not (partial full text): The A&I records will appear as Full text available with a link when they match to at least one active portfolio with a full text service in Alma/SFX (Full text rights for these is ‘Subscription (Title Level)) The Full text Records will all have a Full text available indication: all full text content is marked as full text available if the collection is active, regardless whether there is a full text portfolio in Alma/SFX or not.
Full Text Linking	Can be: Linkresolver - if the links are created by the linkresolver based on the institutional configurations. Link in record - this is mostly the case for unique content that is only available from one platform. Hybrid - if some content for the collection uses the Linkresolver method (usually items with ISSN or ISBNs) and other content that uses the Link in record method (usually items with no standard identifiers). Newspaper Search	Specifies whether a collection is included in the newspaper search, with the following options: Yes – Newspaper content in this collection available in both the Newspaper Search interface and the Regular Primo search interface. Yes, Newspapers Search only – Newspaper content in this collection available exclusively via the Newspaper Search interface, not via the Regular Primo search interface. No - Collection does not include Newspaper content - Collection does not contain newspapers. When evaluating whether collection has newspapers, we take into account the top resource types as listed in the Resource Type CDI field.
Number of Resources	The number of records currently indexed in CDI. This number includes all versions (participants) of a resource. We update this information weekly. The number that appears for DBID searches in Primo/Primo VE may not be same as the listed count since it depends on the specific institution's activations.
Resource Type	Resource types included in this collection. We update this information weekly.
Description	The description of this collection (Where applicable).
Update Frequency	Notes the frequency of updates when the system will check for new provider metadata. We update this information weekly.
Coverage Percentage	This field indicates the percentage of titles, from this specific collection, which has coverage in the Index. The coverage can come from the same provider or from other sources. When it is a Collection of Type Database and it has FT, the coverage will be 100%. Database of type A/I do not have Coverage Percentage. We update this information weekly.
Coverage Percentage Date Calculated	The date the Coverage Percentage was calculated. We update this information weekly.
Last Market Update Date	The date the content was updated. We update this information weekly, but if no information is available, it is left blank.
Alternative Collection Name	As CDI serves several KB products (SFX, Alma, 360), the names of collections that institutions can activate and appear in the Activation Source field and in the Collection Facet, may sometimes have differences in the names. We have added this column to present alternative collection names you may see in the Source and Collection Facet.
