To work with BIBFRAME Records and the Linked Open Data Editor (LOD Editor), you must have one of the following roles:
- Cataloger
- Catalog Manager
- Catalog Administrator
- Cataloger Extended
Opening the Linked Open Data Editor (LOD Editor)
When the LOD editor is enabled, there are two main entry points in the Resources > Cataloging menu to open the LOD editor:
- Catalog BIBFRAME Records — This opens the LOD Editor with any Work and Instance records in-work and records that were edited.
- Manage BIBFRAME Templates — This opens the Templates management page to manage and create templates.
Records can be edited from within a search or from the catalog BIBFRAME records draft page. When searching for Work (Works search) or Instance (All Titles search), selecting Edit Record opens a draft in a sliding panel. You can choose whether to save the draft and continue working on it later or have the changes saved immediately and updated in the record.
Among other things, opening the LOD Editor from the resources menu enables you to create a new Work or Instance record.

For more information about records and templates management, see Creating and Editing a BIBFRAME Records and Templates.
Another entry point for configurations related to the editor is Configuration > Resources > Cataloging > Metadata Configuration. From the Linked Data Active Profiles section, Admins can view the field configuration page for properties (fields) for works and instances.
While there are two links, both lead to the same fields configuration page. For more information, see Field Configurations.
