    April Sneak Preview

The features below are currently planned for the next release. However, some of these features may, for various reasons, not be included in this month's release, but rather in a future Alma release.

    Library Independence

"My Library" in Physical Items search - The inventory operator and other users will be able to predefine the scope of their search to specific libraries they are always searching in. This will reduce the need to redefine the scope in the advance search or to use facets for every search. It is mostly relevant for librarians working in institutions with many libraries and they are responsible for just a few of them.

    Resource Management

    • General Publishing - Publish Portfolio Static URL - Library staff will be able publish static URL that is defined at the level of an electronic portfolio. This is especially useful when the library needs to share electronic portfolios with 3rd party systems that need direct access to electronic resources as opposed to access via the Alma Link Resolver
    • MD Import - avoid multiple matches by preferring the last created record - When importing titles, the goal is to automatically decide if a title already exists in the catalog. In order to achieve a single match, and avoid multiple matches, which require manual intervention, the last created record can be preferred.
    • Support for Cloud Apps in the MDE - Cloud Apps can provide a valuable extension of workflows and functionalities. Providing the ability to use Cloud Apps with the Metadata Editor will make the cataloging workflows more efficient. For example, you will be able to use the Alma Refine Cloud App.

    Fulfillment

Option to consider only physical resources for physical requests - It will be possible to set the lender side locate process to ignore electronic resources when a request is made for physical supply. This will make the lender’s locate process more accurate, making it hook up only to a physical resource if the request is for physical delivery.
