Configuring the Many Authors Handling Policy
This page describes how to define the policy for handling assets with many authors. For an explanation about how Esploro handles assets with many authors see the section Handling of Assets with Many Authors in Esploro Glossary of Terms and Basic Concepts
It is possible to choose between one of two policies (Configuration Menu > Repository > Handling of Asset with Many Authors).
· Keep all Authors – this is the default policy. In this policy all the authors – affiliated or not – are kept in the asset.
· Keep Affiliated Authors – this is a new policy added in the January release. In this policy only affiliated authors are kept in the asset.
The Keep all Authors policy has the following configuration options:
Note that if a record imported in auto-population in a mediated or researcher deposit has more than 500 authors only the first 500 authors will be kept.
- Do you want to add a Group Author to represent authors that may be deleted in auto-population?
- Define the group author text – the default is “et al.”
The Keep Affiliated Authors policy has the following configuration options:
- Define the Number of Authors Threshold
- Any asset with this or a greater number of authors will be considered an asset with many authors and the “Keep affiliated authors” policy will become active. The threshold must be below 500 authors.
- In addition to the affiliated authors include the first 10 authors even if they are not affiliated
- This option was added because citations usually include the first 10 authors.
- In addition to the affiliated authors include a group author to represent deleted authors
- Define the group author text – the default is “et al.”
